Font de Nagol
Like in all the villages where the water was an essential element, Nagol also has its own public fountain. Nagol, with its three houses, is an old medieval village, probably contemporary to Sant Cerni’s church, from the 11th or 12th century. In old documents, it appears with the name “Nagual”, “Enugal”, “Enagal” or “Negual” and was eventually written as “Nagol”. According to Manuel Anglada, its meaning is "water pot" and then became "riguer” or “reguerot"; it is thus linked to water or perhaps its name’s origin comes from the presence of the fountain.
The fountain, which is currently at the foot of the road crossing the village, is almost embedded in the retaining wall at a bend. The water is collected in a concrete trough and at the end of the niche there is a stone with the date 1892, which may date a renovation of the fountain. This date may indicate when the curious bronze spout was added, which can be admired today as a fantastic animal head.
