Font de la Plaça
Now disappeared, this fountain used to be in the main square of Sant Julia de Lòria, and had the shape of a chapel with a niche which had a spout inside, where water would flow out from. It was adorned with a small iron cross and faced the southern entrance of the square.
It was probably removed when the road was made in 1911, as this one had to go where the fountain was. It was replaced by a new fountain on Ca l’Estevet’s facade.
The former fountain can only be seen in a couple of old photographs taken in the late nineteenth century. In two of them, there are women who just go to the fountain to fetch water, at the background there are a couple of horses loaded, probably owned by some muleteer that in his trips stopped at the hostel on the square opposite the fountain. Another image of the fountain, further away, is a postcard from the collection of the brothers Labouche, illustrating the dance of the Festa Major (village fête), with the stage of the musicians next to the fountain.
